Company: I currently run three companies.  Two companies are in the construction industry – in the UK we are called A Woman’s Touch and here in Spain we are Un Toque Femenino.  My third company is called Good Vibes and is in the media industry.

Company description: A Woman’s Touch is a reliable and trustworthy building and refurbishment company run and directed by women.

What makes your business special? The name “A Woman’s Touch” denotes the special attention to detail, high level of customer service and professional, business-like approach that we give to every client on every project. Whilst we employ a mixture of male and female trades people, every single one of my managers across 15 cities in the UK and Spain, is a woman.  On an average day my company provides work for around 100 people, and at least 50 of them are women.

Likes and Dislikes: I love positive people and taking risks to achieve my goals, I dislike negativity and cowboy builders!

Top business tip: If you haven’t started your business yet, or are unsure which direction to take, I would advise to first of all talk to the market and find out where they have a ‘pain’ in their life.  For me this was people saying they were fed up of unprofessional builders. Then create a solution and sell it to them – people will do, and spend a lot more to avoid pain than they will to give themselves pleasure. It is much harder to create or invent and idea or product and then try and create a market for it.

Above | Kerrie's Visionboards
Top life tip: Try a Vision Board. It is literally a notice board and I pin on it pictures of things that I want (cars, houses, boats!!), places I want to visit, and turnover and profit figures that I want to achieve, even pictures of what I view as the ultimate relationship – and a diagram called “My Man” describing all the qualities I was looking for in my ideal partner.    Last year I put a picture of a very remote island in South America that I wanted to visit – and within a month a distant friend had offered me the trip of a lifetime to the exact place!  This year, about 11 days after I put the “My man” diagram onto my board, an amazing guy from my past (specifically from 6th form college) came back into my life and swept me off my feet – and incredibly he is an exact and beautiful fit to all the things I had written!!   My belief is that the vibrations you put out into the universe are what you will get back – negative people tend to have negative things happen to them – and the reverse is true too.   This is known as the Law of Attraction.  I heard a beautiful phrase recently “Life is like a mirror – if you smile at it, it will smile back at you”.  Whatever your religious belief, or opinion of how the Universe works, I urge you to try a vision board for a year and just see what happens.

Why you love living in Spain: The culture, the food, the language and the people – their way of living each day as it happens to the full (‘carpe diem’!!) is a lovely approach to life.

I set up the Spanish version of A Woman ’s Touch, called Un Toque Femenino in 2007.  I decided to move here in 2008 to focus on growing the Spanish business, and also, quite frankly, having my base here and commuting from Spain to London rather than living in London and commuting to Spain is a much nicer way to live day to day!
