The spectacular Rhys Daniels Trust Butterfly Ball – an annual event on the Costa del Sol – is being held this year on Saturday 9 June at the beach resort of the Hotel Beatriz Palace & Spa just outside of Fuengirola. Guests will enjoy an evening of superb entertainment.

For everyone who loves to be out in nature, who likes to meet people and enjoy hiking, there is a new free hiking group on the Costa del Sol now.

The andalusian countryside has a lot of beautiful routes to offer, great hidden places for a pick-nick, clear rivers to swim, charming little villages and Tapas Bars with local specialties.

The idea of this group is to share all this with people who have similar interests. The most important thing is to respect nature and your fellow walkers, including the 4-legged ones, dogs are very welcome! The first 3 walks are already presented on the blog of the group, called Walking 4 Fun, starting off with a couple of easy ones, and one a little bit more demanding. On June 17th there’s a great talent competition being organised to spot stars in the making whilst raising money for charity.

There’s a 500€ prize for the winner and the finalists will appear on Marbella’s Hot Talent Show. It’s 10€ to enter and all of this money will be donated to Cudeca.

NIE NUMBERS

Non residents in Spain still have to obtain an NIE number (number of identification for foreigners). They will have to have this number to carry out almost any transaction in the country. It can be applied at the National Police Station and you will have to return to collect it approximately three days later. On the botton of the certificate that you collect now, it says that its valid for three months and this refers to the certificate, not to the number as it does never changes. This means that if you need to present this certificate in a bank, for buying a car, for buying a property, etc) and the 3 months is over, you will have to go through request a new certificate.

Original passport and photocopy

Payment of the fee of 16,00 euros first time/6,82 euros for second applications onwards (on form 790 obtained at the National Police and should be paid at the bank).

CERTIFICATE OF RESIDENCE

All European citizens that spend more than 3 months in Spain have to obtain their certificate of registration as resident at the national police station

The approval of the law 240/2007 obliges all EC members that spend more than 3 months in Spain to obtain a CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION AS RESIDENT IN THE CENTRAL REGISTRY OF FOREIGNERS from the National Police.

EU citizens will no longer receive a Residence card but a Certificate of Registration in the Central Registry of Foreigners that is a credit card size piece of green paper that will be given at the same moment its applied.

Documents I need to present.

The form is the EX-18 available in the national police

Original passport and photocopy

Payment of 10,20 euros (on form 720 obtained the national police

This certificate expires after 5 years and if you don’t have a NIE number when applying for the Certificate, they will assign you one automatically and you don’t have to make a separate application. This certificate is not valid as identification.
