I also want to say a big thank you to two members of my team who have left for pastures new. Tanya Fooks, who was inspirational with her design work and technical back up for WIB's and Maria Petrak, the networking supremo, who handled PR for WIB’s – her smile and energy always make her stand out in a crowd! | Having lived in Spain 4 years coming from Guernsey in the Channel Islands where I was an Insurance Broker for 15 years. It was never my intention to start another company selling Insurance in Spain but I soon discovered that sitting amongst the olive and orange groves in Guaro was a little too sedate for me! There was obviously a market for a expatriate company who had had experience in the insurance sector. I have had so many comments saying, "I am so surprised how quick and easy it is to deal with obtaining insurance in Spain." So many companies make it seem so difficult especially when you have just moved and you are not familiar with the Spanish regulations! I never expect a new client to come to my office with all the papers – I actually provide a more personel service where I visit them – its takes out all the hassle of them finding where your office is what papers they need to bring etc. We cover all types of insurance: health, car, life, house, pet, liability, boat, plane. English, Channel Island, Northern Ireland and Spanish registered cars accepted. We work with AXA, Winterthur, Sanitas, DKV, Allianz and Lloyds of London. |

Several months ago a group of mothers from Aloha College were looking at possible business opportunities in the Marbella Area. Given that each person had differing work experiences throughout the world there were some very interesting suggestions and ideas discussed, not all of which would be feasible for this current economic climate, nor perhaps appropriate for professional individuals to be involved in! Whilst we identified a number of possibilities capital investment and initial layout was a stumbling block. In the mean time one of our party, Alex Shaw, had identified an ideal revenue earner. An associate in the UK who had been a wholesaler in the greeting card business for many years was looking to retire. However, he had a large amount of surplus stock to be sold off. Alex approached him with a business proposal that would involve us purchasing his stock and selling it as sole agent in Spain. The initial delivery has been received and as has become immediately apparent there is a demand for top quality cards without the inflated prices we see here. |
